Health Centers to Host Book Club for Seniors
CLEVELAND - In June, City of Cleveland Health Centers will launch a monthly book club for seniors. Registered club members will receive books or audio books on loan from the Cleveland Public Library and then will meet monthly to discuss the book, enjoy healthy snacks and receive senior-specific health information. There is no charge to attend, and all seniors are welcome with registration.
“Our health centers are very community-focused, and the Senior Book Club project underscores our commitment to our patients and the quality of life in our community,” explains Karen Butler, Commissioner of Health at the Cleveland Department of Public Health. “We expect to see that the simple act of gathering to discuss a common story will promote mental health, build a sense of community, and strengthen book club members’ connection to the health centers and the services we provide.”
The Senior Book Club project is supported by several community partners: City of Cleveland Departments of Public Health and Aging, Cleveland Public Library, Ohio Department of Health, MetroHealth, Ohio State University Extension, Department of Veterans Affairs and Playaway.
