Ohio TRAIN is a website used to access public health training courses. With Ohio TRAIN you can…
  • Search or browse the nationwide database for on-site or distance learning courses
  • Sign up for emails about new courses
  • Track your learning with personal online transcripts
  • Earn CEUs (often at no cost)
  • Upon successful completion of each course, you will be sent a certificate of achievement via email
Getting started with Ohio TRAIN
  1. From the Ohio TRAIN homepage click on “Create Account” on the left side of the page
  2. Read and accept the TRAIN Policies
  3. Enter your information
  4. Once your account is created, you can search and register for courses by clicking Course Search along the top of the of the website then click on the “Search” icon and type in the desired course
It is preferable to take the courses in this order:
  1. IS-700.a Introduction to National Incident Management System (NIMS)

    • Navigate to the registration tab, choose your CEU credit type and click “Launch”
      • IS-700 will introduce you to NIMS and will describe the chain of command and communication roles in an emergency response. NIMS is the system that provides a consistent nationwide template that enables all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. IS-700 along with IS-100 will provide the terminology for you to advance to further trainings
      • Prerequisites: None
      • CEUs: 0.3
      • Course Length: Approximately 3 hours

  2. IS-100.b Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS)

    • Navigate to the registration tab, choose your CEU credit type and click “Launch”
      • IS-100 provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. You will learn the history, features and principles, and organization structure of the Incident Command System. In addition you will learn about the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
      • Prerequisites: None
      • CEUs: 0.3
      • Course Length: Approximately 3 hours

  3. IS-200.b ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

    • Navigate to the registration tab, choose your CEU credit type and click “Launch”
      • IS-200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the ICS. This course will provide you with training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS
      • Prerequisites: IS-100
      • Completion of IS-700 is recommended
      • CEUs: 0.3
      • Course Length: Approximately 3 hours

  4. ICS-800.B National Response Framework, An Introduction

    • Navigate to the registration tab, choose your CEU credit type and click “Launch”
      • ICS-800 will introduce you to the principals and concepts of the National Response Framework (NRF). You will learn about the roles and responsibilities for specific entities within the NRF as well as the actions that support a national response
      • Prerequisites: None
      • CEUs: 0.3
      • Course Length: Approximately 3 hours
