Before Starting an Exercise Program
It is always smart to talk to your doctor first before starting a new exercise program or significantly increasing your physical activity levels, especially if you have any of the following:
- chest pain or pain in the neck and/or arm
- shortness of breath
- a diagnosed heart condition
- joint and/or bone problems
- currently taking cardiac and/or blood pressure medications
- have not previously been physically active
- dizziness
If none of these apply to you, start exercising slowly and sensibly. If at any point you feel any of the symptoms listed above, contact your doctor right away.
