Pups Are Popping Up All Over Cleveland!

Steps to a Healthier Cleveland will join Pop Up City, PetCo and Steelyard Commons to host a weekend of free dog-friendly activities designed to build community and better health amongst Cleveland’s pet owners. A “pop up” dog park on the West Bank of the Flats and a four-legged footrace along the towpath trail at Steelyard Commons are planned as part of Steps to a Healthier Cleveland’s Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound program.

Ohio Department of Transportation awards $289,000 to make it safer for Cleveland kids to walk to school

Walking or biking to and from school will soon be a safer, healthier activity for Cleveland students, thanks to a grant awarded to the Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The $289,000 award is part of more than $4 million in federal dollars ODOT is investing in 87 Ohio communities through its Safe Routes to School program.

Cleveland smokers can get help quitting

The Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) is offering a new schedule of smoking cessation clinics. The clinics are free to Cleveland residents, with registration. Developed by the American Lung Association, the 8-week Freedom From Smoking® (FFS) program, is led by a trained tobacco treatment specialist. The FFS program uses a positive behavior change approach that shows one how to become a nonsmoker.
